the Con Ed

Rate Hike!

In January of this year, Con Ed requested that the New York State Public Service Commision approve proposed increases in its electric and gas rates. Con Edison's proposed rate request is designed to increase the company's annual electric delivery revenues by approximately $485 million , and also increase its annual gas delivery revenues by approximately $210 million.

ConEd claims that this money is needed repair equipments, fix leaky gas lines, improve storm rediness and more.However, because Con Ed is not required to disclose to New Yorkers how the money is spent, there is no way to know whether we're paying for improvements or lining shareholders' pockets.

This summer, blackouts have affected NewYorkers across the city. Blackouts resulted from system failures and from Con Ed denying customers electricity with no notice. This is inexcusable. We will not pay even more for unacceptable service.
